With this contribution, the association will be able to feed for about three months the 45 cats that live permanently in its facilities, as well as those who are in foster homes, after having been abandoned and/or mistreated, waiting for a new family.
The action is part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility policy, aimed at contributing to improving the health and welfare of dogs and cats.
Vilanova de Arousa, Monday 12 August 2024 – The Spanish pet food manufacturer Nugape Pet Food has donated 8,000 portions of cat food to the interspecies shelter La Isla de Tali, which focuses on the rescue, rehabilitation and adoption of species that have been abandoned and/or mistreated.
The contribution will be used to feed for about three months the 45 cats that currently live permanently in the association, as well as those in foster homes, waiting for a new family, and after being collected due to their situation of neglect and lack of protection.
In total, Nugape has donated 300 kilos of its high-quality Cebican and Danna food brands, carefully prepared by its team of animal nutrition specialists with natural ingredients and the strictest food safety controls – endorsed by the prestigious IFS Food international quality seal – to cover all the nutritional needs of felines of any breed and age, or with special needs. The company’s team also wanted to visit the shelter’s facilities to get to know personally and in detail the important work that is carried out in this shelter.
With this action, Nugape’s objective is to collaborate in maintaining the sustainability of La Isla de Tali, located in La Insuela, in A Ramallosa (Galicia, Spain), and led by Natalia Rodríguez, which currently shelters in semi-freedom a hundred exotic, wild and domestic farm animals at risk, thus helping to save their lives thanks to the help of volunteers and the donations it receives. “For us this donation is very important and we are very grateful, as in addition to the cats we have in the shelter on a permanent basis and those we have in foster homes, we manage the CER (Capture, Sterilisation and Return) method of the Nigrán town council for population control, monitoring and supervision of the cat colonies. This means that, practically every day, we receive new animals, many of them sick, who spend a long time in our shelter”, explains Rodríguez.

It should be noted that the abandonment of pets is a structural problem that last year affected 2.4% of the 4,783,000 cats in Spain, according to the latest studies. A problem which, in the case of felines, is aggravated in the central months of the year, such as the summer months, when the number of these pets arriving at shelters increases due to the seasonal nature of their reproduction.
